Family Transition Center

The needs of homeless families are often overlooked.  Weary from life’s battles they are left with little hope for their future and no one to turn to.

Recognizing that these families need encouragement and support in every area of their lives, Powerhouse Ministries created the Family Transition Center (PTC) offering food, shelter and the tools necessary to build a brighter future for those ready to seize the opportunity for change in their lives.

The PTC mission is to provide a secure and healing environment that encompasses physical, spiritual and emotional safety for all who interact within the Powerhouse community.  Beyone the basic needs of housing and meals, the PTC offers support and tools for life transformation.

Applicants complete a thorough interview process and are required to be drug and alcohol free upon entering the program.  Since life transformation is essential to their long term success, participants will look at their core beliefs about who they are and how their actions affect themselves and the community.  Participants complete the program in seven phases at an individual pace that can take from nine months to two years.

Our Powerhouse Transition program is “grace-based”.  We believe that the grace of God is sufficient for us in our weakness.  Because of this, the foundation of our community is one in which staff, participants, and volunteers are free to confess shortcomings, thoughts, feelings and emotions.

Particular emphasis is given to the needs of children, who may be especially traumitzed by their family’s living situation.  Powerhouse Ministries works together with the Folsom-Cordova School District to address the special needs of these children.  Assistance with school enrollment, clothes and supplies will be provided, as well as daily homework assistance and tutoring.
